Abstract
The present investigation reports changes in major nutrient elements of pear, peach and grape leaves during senescence and abscission. The loss of chlorophyll, N,P,K, and Mg from pear leaves has been estimated to make out for 80, 50, 35, 36 and 25% of the pre-senescence content, respectively. Peach leaves were found to loss 50% of chlorophyll and 30% of N during leaf senescence and abscission. In grape, 80% of chlorophyll, 56% of N, 55% of P and 47% of Mg, respectively, had been lost by during leaf senescence and abscission. Calcium has increased in the selected leaves during leaf senescence. The results indicate that the pear trees are capable of transporting endogenous N,P and K from leaves to the storage tissues during the late autumn. The peach trees are capable of transporting N and P. All analytical data were expressed on the basis of unit area (10§²).
